EDF and electric mobility

Electric Mobility

EDF, an actor in innovation in the field of "Low-Carbon Mobility"

A strong commitment

EDF boasts a wealth of experience in the operation of electric vehicles and charging terminals, renowned technical and scientific expertise in both batteries and infrastructures and a low-carbon energy production capacity unrivalled in Western Europe. Electric mobility raises the prospect of a profound change in transport modes. In addition to its work on battery performance and safety, the EDF Group's R&D department is developing infrastructures and recharging strategies to suit this new mode of consumption, whilst examining their viability in the field.
The EDF Group has undertaken to acquire 5,000 electric vehicles in France between 2011 and 2015. This commitment represents all vehicles due for replacement being replaced with electric vehicles over a period of 5 years.

Trials to test the solutions of tomorrow

The Group has embarked on a policy of active and transparent partnerships for the various technological solutions developed by car manufacturers (for both Electric Vehicles and Plug-in rechargeable Hybrid Vehicles), with Renault, PSA, Toyota, BMW and Daimler, among others. The EDF Group is also holding other trials in Europe in this field.

In addition to plug-in rechargeable hybrid and electric vehicles, EDF is making its own contribution to the development of a wide range of electric modes of transport: trams, trolleybuses, electric buses, electric boats, etc.

Experiments to prepare for tomorrow’s solutions

Since 2011, EDF and its subsidiaries offer users of electric vehicles a range of simple, high performance, competitive and safe recharging solutions aimed at:

  • private vehicle owners and residential complex property managers;
  • local authorities charged with deploying public charging infrastructure networks;
  • public car park management companies;
  • businesses that offer private parking as a service to motorists.

Experiments

EDF has decided to get together with manufacturers to conduct experiments to prepare the solutions of tomorrow.
