Clamart, Chatou and Les Renardières.

Clamart

With nearly 1,000 researchers and technicians, the Clamart (Hauts-de-Seine department) site is the headquarters of EDF R&D, within which may be found its primary functions. The site features a broad spectrum in terms of areas of expertise and competencies, including: nuclear, mechanics, software engineering, mathematics and numeric simulation, energy conservation, semiotics, etc. Among this spread are several experimental laboratories in fi elds such as rotating machines, power electronics, electrical quality, teleservices
and the interactive home.

Chatou

The Chatou-based research center (Yvelines department) has nearly 500 researchers and technicians. This center boasts one of the leading positions across the globe in the area of hydraulics and fl uid mechanics. The site’s operations are mainly centered on electricity production-driven energy, be it conventional (thermal, hydraulic, nuclear) or derived from renewable energies (photovoltaic, etc.). Lastly, a growing portion of the research activity is led through local, European and international partnerships.

Les Renardières

The fields of research of the 600 researchers and technicians range anywhere from energy efficiency to the ageing process of thermal and nuclear installation
materials, not to mention the development of renewable energies. The priority is three-fold: ensure the performance of grid-localized materials, develop new
techniques of electricity usage for homes and businesses, and confront the operations-related challenges and confront operations challenges related to the lifespan of EDF’s nuclear plants. The Renardières site (Seine-et-Marne department) has at its disposal cutting-edge laboratories, some of which are partnered with the leading energy players worldwide.
