EIFER

EIFER is a joint research Institute between EDF and the University of Karlsruhe, located in Germany.

It contains about 100 staff members, among which 10 EDF employees. The main research topics are :

  • influence of urban development on the energy sector ;
  • local energy planning based on the extensive use of Geographical Information Systems data ; 
  • distributed generation (including fuel cell technologies) ;
  • renewable energy resource analysis (mainly biomass, biogas and geothermal energy) ;
  • energy policies and strategies in European countries
