Introduction
Customers, be they residential, professional or in the service or industrial sectors, are at the heart of research into the management of energy usage. The EDF Group's aim is to help them be more efficient in their use of energy. This involves setting up special services adapted to different situations, designing new installations for residential and small enterprise customers, and constructing new, more efficient processes and generic solutions for industry

EDF R&D has built a scenario that allows to shift out the direct fossil energy use in buildings, without increasing dramatically the electricity uses. This scenario is based on the dissemination of existing best technologies, as efficient thermal insulation, heat pumps and biomass for space heating, and solar. It has been published in the french foresight monthly journal "Futuribles" buildings without any fossil energy in France in 2050 ?.
