To achieve this, we must have world class calculation and application development processes.

The challenge involves making solid progress in simulation codes (mechanics, thermo-hydraulics, market risks, etc.) by providing innovative methodologies and services: advanced algorithms, technologies enabling the long-term validity of codes, a coupling architecture that can handle both multiphysical and multiscale simulations, interactive 3D visualisation of results and evaluation of uncertainties. It will also involve high-performance calculations that are indispensable to solving ever more complex problems.

In addition, the challenge aims to foster new methods for cooperation between simulation-experiments/in-situ measurements, and to deliver methods for uncertainty calculation and data assimilation that allow for efficient use of the ever larger amount of data available in all our businesses. Digital simulation is naturally a transversal tool. The challenge will structure the simulation policy taking into account the needs and barriers observed in the business lines, offering them a consistent framework and a long-term ambition.
