EDF - Environmental impact

The challenge here is to evaluate the impact of emissions resulting from the EDF Group's different energy generation activities in Europe: effluents and radioactive waste, sediment metals, combustion residue, microorganism emissions, etc. The process notably involves analysing the characteristics of pollutant emissions, their propagation in the environment (air, water and soil), human and ecosystem exposure, and the related health and environmental risks, all the while calculating the level of uncertainty inherent to the process.

The idea is to use these detailed analyses to assess and recommend those ecological and economic indicators and evaluation methods that are best adapted to provide a normalised, overall view of the environmental and health impacts of the different generation technologies used by the Group.
