EDF intends to play a major role in the field of renewable energy.

Marine turbines generate electric energy using the tidal currents, which show a promising potential of several thousand Mega Watts in European waters.

Qualifying the most promising sites

The centre's efforts in this area involve sharing the data gathered on prototypes tested by EDF's UK subsidiary EDF Energy,
monitoring technological developments,
identifying and characterising potential sites,
and evaluating the impact of the technologies on the marine environment (partnership with IFREMER and other partnership with the University of Edinburg).
