Eco-Alternative, an EDF subsidiary specialized in renewable energies, installs solar thermal systems approved by the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (Ademe). Clipsol manufactures the solar panels.
Their ready availability or lack thereof will need to be matched with the flexibility of consumption and the other generation technologies in use: nuclear, fossil-fired and hydro. Against this backdrop, electricity and heat storage will be one of the keys to easing these constraints.
This challenge focuses on technology monitoring and experimenting with technically available systems using renewable energies and with electricity and heat storage, not ruling out, in certain cases, development in-house and through partnerships.
